Now in Annapolis, schedule a time to view her.

A truly unique Downeast style boat. This boat is patterned after the Chesapeake Bay working boats found in the early 20th century that became known as the Hooper Island Draketails. The distinguishing feature of the Draketails are the rounded, reverse stern and the sleek hull design. The Belkov Picnic Express is a true yacht-finished work boat, she has the comforts of home while providing all the benefits of a traditional work boat. Larry Belkov has made no compromises on the seakeeping abilities of this boat design.

Time Bandit was built in Annapolis, Maryland by Belkov Yacht Co. so she is right at home on the Chesapeake Bay and a pleasure to cruise!

The sleek hull is Awlgripped in a beautiful Hunter green with black waterline.  The boat layout is perfect for a day of fishing with a low cabin forward and an open cockpit aft.  The pilothouse is forward with a canopy extending over the forward portion of the cockpit so on days of inclement weather you can still be on deck but under cover.

Construction

The hull was built on of 9mm okoume planking above the chines and 12mm on the bottom.  Three layers of 3mm okoume formed the curved stern.  At the chine and along the centreline, the builders overlapped the skins and dressed them to a flat surface, protecting them with white oak caps that were faired to the hull surface.  The hull was then coated with two layers of epoxy saturated fiberglass making an ultrasmooth, totally bonded together construction. A final coat of Awlgrip was applied creating its fabulous gleaming finish.  Construction of the interior and deck was aided by the accuracy of the pre-cut bulkheads which were fabricated in an offsite location and then installed in the boat.

Accomodations and Galley

The cuddy cabin provides nicely finished accommodations the are perfect for an extended weekend on the water. A forward V-berth with bulkhead storage, a square dinette table with built-in bulkhead bench seating, a galley and head complete the interior space.  There is a surprising amount of storage in the interior space as the use of space has been thoughtfully utilized in the design.  The wood trim throughout is teak with a gloss finish while the bulkheads and overhead are glossy white, which adds to the classic feel of this boat.
